The Märklin model railway: Definitely not only a toy, but a fascinating construction, which attracts young and old.
In Gelsenkirchen there is one of the biggest model railway installations, which takes the visitor on a trip through Germany. Starting at the North Sea, coming down to the Ruhr area with its industrial facilities and further south to Lake Constance, the Märklin world can be marveled at.
The great attention to detail is what makes the “Deutschland Express” so special. Coal dumps are made of real coal, trees are all handmade and if you look careful enough you will always find a humorous everyday story in the landscape.
